The Dinarics-Sharr Circuit: Albania – North Macedonia – Kosovo
One of the most beautiful rides you will likely ever experience, this circuit takes in three countries, but it delivers a world of culture and adventure cycling for all skill abilities and all levels of curiosity. The itinerary begins along the shores of Lake Shkodër and rolls on the main Trans Dinarica route through Dinaric Alps, the so-called Albanian Alps, and then into North Macedonia, via the city of Kukës, to UNESCO World Heritage Site: Lake Ohrid. The route continues into the heart of North Macedonia to Bitola where it will begin to point north toward the Sharr Mountains. After crossing into Kosovo with a stop in the cultural and historic city of Prizren, the circuit heads to Gjakova where cyclists will take an alternative “connector” into Albania within easy cycling range of Valbona Valley National Park. The loop finishes back where it started, Lake Shkodër.
