The Lake Circuit: Albania and North Macedonia

An itinerary for those that want big adventure and want to experience one-of-a-kind culture, this circuit takes in some of the most interesting and historic sites and villages of both countries and allows cyclists to really enjoy the open road. Starting on the shores of Lake Shkodër this itinerary heads due south to the Albanian capital of Tirana. From there it rolls south and east to the city of Korçë before heading into North Macedonia, where it will wrap around the UNESCO-listed Lake Ohrid. The time in this country is brief but meaningful with a stop in the beautiful lakeside town of Sveti Naum. The route then turns north into Albania and pedals through Kukës before turning west and finishing back in Lake Shkodër.
