The Slovenia Circle: Tolmin – Ilirska Bistrica

A great itinerary to see the stunning and diverse landscape of the western half of Slovenia, you’ll start from the town of Tolmin, in the shadow of the Julian Alps. Then, take the western side of the circle — following the electric turquoise Soča River south down to Nova Gorica. From here, ride across the country’s Karst Region before pedaling to Ilirska Bistrica. At this point you’ll turn north again, following the eastern side of the loop: up to Postojna, where the Alps meet the Dinaric Alps, and the town’s famous caves. The itinerary completes its circle back in Tolmin, where the beautiful Soča River again awaits.
