Transdinarica2: Connecting the beginning of the route with the Alpe Adria cycling route

While some of you are enjoying the existing route, we don’t sleep. As part of the Transdinarica2 project under the Interreg Danube Region program, we will connect the beginning of the Trans Dinarica in Tolmin, Slovenia, with a popular cycling route, the Alpe Adria Trail that leads from Salzburg in Austria to Grado in Italy. Since we have received quite a few questions in the past about how to get to Tolmin from Munich or Innsbruck, this connection seems very logical. And, as you will soon be able to experience by yourself, beautiful.

The upgrade of existing navigation packages will take place in the winter, so you will be able to experience the routes yourself from 2026.

Briefly about the Transdinarica2 project

The whole Danube region has its own beauties and its own challenges, but when designing the Trans Dinarica cycling route, we only realized even more how beautifully this area and cycling tourism complement each other. They are made for each other! That is why we are pleased to work on the Transinarica2, a project that is part of the Interreg Danube Region program. This time, partners will focus on local communities, on the inhabitants of the region. We want to show them the potential of a cycling route through eight countries, from Slovenia to Serbia, while at the same time connecting the existing cycling routes, the Alpe Adria and Trans Dinarica, with an additional stages. Project partners are comming from Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia and Montenegro.

The photos bellow are from the stage that will lead from Bohinjska Bistrica (near Bohinj lake) via the Bohinj Pass (Soriška Planina ski resort) to Podbrdo at the beginning of Baška Grapa. From Podbrdo to Tolmin there are only 30 kilometers left, mostly downhill.

Part of the route will overlap with the Slovenian Mountain Bike Trail, but don't worry, the sections will not be difficult.
